This platform is dedicated to exploring topics in cultural heritage preservation and archaeological research.

My expertise lies in ceramics, where I employ experimental archaeology to reproduce prehistoric pottery and investigate the associated cultural production practices. This methodology is central to my scientific research approach. My primary geographic focus is the undecorated buffwares of western Arizona and Southeastern California, which pose significant challenges in establishing precise temporal and spatial associations within a prehistoric context. Although an established typology exists, consistently classifying individual sherds remains difficult. A substantial portion of my work has involved refining this typology and developing streamlined recording methodologies for its practical application.

Additionally, I actively engage with issues of cultural resources management, landscape stewardship, and preservation. These activities necessitate addressing critical, overarching questions for the field of archaeology:

  • What are the most effective strategies for integrating Native American voices into archaeological practice?

  • How can the discipline establish a productive balance between Western scientific methodologies and Indigenous knowledge systems?

  • In what ways can archaeology re-emphasize the human dimensions of the past to foster a more robust post-processual perspective?
